Remembering the old days.....

something strange but sad happen today , I was planning to write about my childhood friends and the fun we had when we played with paper dolls .. most of the paper doll where actreses of the 30th and 40th ..one of the names that came to mind were Irene Dunne , Marjorie Lord and Deanna Durbin .. as I was looking for information in the Internet I came across a video and some information that deanna durbin had die today , at the age of 91 , very sad for those of us who grew up playing with their paper dolls look alike , she brought many happy days to the life of many kids who played with their dolls ... my condolecense to her family . there is time for everything in our life , a time to mourn and a time to cry , a time to be happy and a time to remember , yes I remember those happy day , chilhood days when everything was rosy and beautiful .. many beautiful tomorrows , when in reality only the moment exist.....thanks deanna for the wonderfull memories .....

THOSE GOOD OLD DAYS ....

one of the things I dearly remember is my paternal grandmother , when my grandfather die I was too young or maybe I had not been born yet , they live in the country and own some acreage of land , across the street the river meander , huge rocks lay like boulders and one could see how the water bubble down as clear and crystalline as a diamond ... there many people went to wash their clothing using the rocks as washing board , today we think about all the conveniences the world have to offered , but at what sacrifices while our parents did their washing us kids took the opportunity to play in the river and have some fun , after the chore was done we went home and we headed to the sugar cane fields to eat and savor the sweetness of the cane or else we went to pick the mangoes that lay on the ground from the rain storm of the night before . who said those ancient days were hard , there was not much and we live day by day , but they were healthy and enjoyable days , kids were safe , food was edible , fresh and free of pesticide ... kids were free to run as they please , go were they wanted to go without the inconvinience of some one looking after them , neighbors trusted neighbors , strangers were welcome , the doors remain open to the fresh air , and although there were no fancy chair in the patio to sit ,there was no lack of benches , and the hard ground was always there to lay your aching body for a spell .. those were the days my friend , we wish they never ended .....my everlasting memories ....
